Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended four early chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
